~1 Corinthians 14.5
When I have gone of this passage in the past, I’ve always thought of it in the context of love for a significant other. I guess the reason for this has been that the way the text is usually used is in the context of a relationship as we typically would hear it in weddings and such. This time reading it through, and through once more, I’ve thought of it more in the context of Jesus and the way that he loves.
When I think of ways to describe myself, typically, the first word that I think of (but don’t usually say) is “mean.” I don’t know what has made me this way but I feel that I am mean and critical of others and I’m soo sorry if this what you think of me as well. Lately, this is one thing that I have been trying to work on and an issue that I’ve been really trying to give up to God. This brings me back to this scripture. God sent his one and only son here to earth through LOVE. Then Jesus lived a life here where he loved everyone despite the sins of their life and the persecution against Him. The crazy thing is Jesus still lives. Jesus is still among us every single second everywhere on this earth still LOVING us for who we are and despite the sins that we have done. Jesus loves me despite all of my short comings and all of my imperfections.
Jesus calls us to love as He loves. Jesus said, “you have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But it tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may e sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” ~Matthew 5:43-45. So when I read that verse now, I will not only apply it in my relationship with Mike, but it will apply to my relationship with you too. Take care and have a blessed night.
